My name is Nilakshi Mogan. I am 17 years old and am just about to enter my final year of high school here in Canada. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I was first introduced to the art form at 7 years old when I started Carnatic vocal lessons with Gaanaamrutham Fine Arts Academy, And have since continued to learn the Carnatic Genre. Carnatic music is definitely the root of my music journey and singing style.
I am currently in my 6th grade of Carnatic vocal, and am planning to obtain my teaching diploma in the future.
My gurus are Smt. Aathirai Sivapalan Roshan and Smt Jeyarani Sivapalan.
Aside from Carnatic music, I also stepped foot into more western/cinema genre singing at about 10 years old.
I started performing at family functions as well as local competitions whenever possible. I only really branched out and began experimenting with music and
my personal singing style recently within the past year, especially with the global Covid-19 pandemic.
During quarantine, I started a cover page on Instagram where I recorded and posted vocal covers of various songs. This really allowed me to not only
become more confident with my singing, but also receive criticism and make improvements.
I am so grateful to be a part of the Urban Records Entertainment label,
and am very excited to experience all that it has to offer. This is definitely a great step in my musical journey!
